address bar no longer connects to sites

I type in the address www.????.com and nothing happens. I do not recieve a
message about page not able to be connected or anything. Any address I type
in the address bar, it just sits there and nothing happens. I am ableto
connect to pages by going thru the search engine but why is my address bar
not connecting me any more?

down to Item No. 383 "Hewlett-Packard's Share-to-Web software - Fix (MS06-015)"
to download a registry fix.
