Address Bar in Internet Explorer

When I click on the down arrow in Internet Explorer is shows all the sites I
have visited. I don't want to remove all these sites but I'd like to
remove a few of them. Can anyone tell me how to remove a few of these
sites from the address bar. I know about clearing the history but I
want to keep some of the sites shown. Thanks.

Hi Karen,

Start/run regedit, navigate here by clicking the plus signs:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

Delete the strings in the right pane that correspond to the addresses that
you no longer want.

Hi,

Read the original request: They want to delete some, but not all of the
listings in the address bar *and* they already know about clearing the
history. My response covers how to do that simply. They may not want to dump
everything in an attempt to remove just one or two pieces of information.
Editing the registry in this case is quick and simple, and will accomplish
precisely what they are asking.

How do you know they are a beginner? Most who are will say so, and the rest
will respond with something like "What do you mean start/run regedit?". You
can also note that this person is posting using a newsreader, not the web
interface. To me that means we are dealing with someone who, at the very
least, is smart enough to know how to setup a news account, something most
newbies have never even heard of.

Rick, instead of having these "beginners" editing the Registry (dangerous), have
them put the ones (websites) they want to keep in their Favorites and delete the
rest by cleaning out their cookies, temporary files and history. They
will have ready access to their favorite websites and can delete at will.

Thanks for the information. I'm not what I call a newbie and I enjoy
reading this newsgroup and learning. All of your information is greatly
appreciated.

Hi Karen,

Hope the information was of some use to you. I hope to also see you chip in
when you can to answer other's problems. That (as you likely know) is what
usenet is all about.
