Adding Win2K3 server to 2000 AD

Ok, I'm trying to add a Windows 2003 Server to my AD domain. I currently
have 2 domain controllers. On the Schema Master and Infrastructure Master I
ran the ADPREP /forestprep and ADPREP /domainprep and log files says
everything was successful. I made sure that both domain controllers
replicated so that both have the new schema. I joined the win2k3 machine to
my domain and logged on with the domain administrator account. I go to
promote the win2k3 server to a domain controller by running dcpromo and
everything seems to be going fine. It replicates the objects, however
towards the end, I get this error:

New Credentials
The operation failed because: The Active Directory Installation Wizard was
unable to convert the computer account COMPNAME$ to a domain controller
account. "Access is denied."

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you are not domain admin when you ran dcpromo.

If you were, then it is probably quicker to remove the W2K3 server from the
domain, delete its account, add it back to the domain, then run dcpromo on
it.
Hopefully that will clear it up.
