adding Save and Close button

I am trying to find or create the "Save and Close" button when viewing my
activities in Outlook. I don't like having to "save" an appointment and then
"close" the window. For some reason, I cannot find this when i try to
customize my toolbar. Is there any way to add this?

What version of Outlook are we talking about and what are your exact steps
to reproduce? Note that you can also close the window. It changes have been
made it will prompt you to save as well.

Outlook 2003 and I'm not sure what you mean by "exact steps to reproduce".
"Save and Close" is available in every other window, but for some reason not
in Appointments.
