Hopefully, before you installed the new ram you shut down
your computer and turned it off power *at the surge protector*
(which cuts off standby power while leaving your computer
grounded) or unplugged it and waited a few minutes for standby
power to dissipate, and took the standard precautions against
static electricity (wearing a wrist strap or keeping one hand
grounded at all times).
Try this:
Reinstall the original ram, and try clearing CMOS (see your
mainboard manual for how to do it) and set up your BIOS again.
If that works, return the new ram to the place you bought it,
and go to
www.crucial.com and use their memory configurer
to find the ram that's compatible with your computer and buy
that.
