Sounds like a older CD Program that was designed for Pre Windows 98. Older
machines required MS-Dos to operate and had a Autoexec.bat file as well as an
Config.sys file to load the drivers, High memory etc. Newer versions of
Windows, do not require the use of either file. So if this program is
searching for an Autoexec.bat file to add a line to, it won't be of any use.
Check to see what the date is on the CD and if is older than 98, I would
suggest to find a newer copy.
Hope this is on the right track for you.

First, make sure you've enabled to ability to see all hidden files and
extensions (from the View tab in Folder Options). Then copy the
autoexec.nt you will find in C:\Windows\Repair (assuming your XP
install is on the C: drive) to C:\Windows\System32. See if you can
install the program now.
