I have a fixed IP on DSL and a Linksys router. Each computer
on my network has a fixed IP in the 192.168.1.x range.
When I add a modem driver to one computer so as to be able to
use a dialup connection to my cell provider, My mail client
(Mozilla) and browsers (Mozilla & IE) on that computer lose
connectivity to the internet, even after I remove the modem
in Network Connections.
When the problem is in place, I can use the ping command in a
cmd window to ping IP numbers on the internet, but I cannot
ping a URL.
I can easily back up to a Ghost image just before installing
the modem, and all works fine. However, removing the modem
does not bring back internet connectivity.
I want to be able to use either my DSL or the dialup modem
to establish an internet connection for the computer that
is connected to the telephone.
Any help or guidance will be most appreciated.
