On an XP system, with IE 6.0 - I've had several trojans, malware, spyware, and other like programs and have been running AdAware and Spybot to get rid of them. My system seems fairly clean now with only one (I hope) lingering problem. I can't go to any page by just entering "Microsoft" or "www.microsoft.com" - I have to enter "http://www.microsoft.com". I've reset "Web settings" to default and cleared all cache files - no help.

There is probably a registry entry that is still corrupted, but I can't find it.

Thanks, Roger.

You can check these keys and edit them, if necessary, as follows:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
DefaultPrefix default="http://"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
Prefixes
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

Hope this Helps
