Adding Fonts to word.

Hi,

I have some new fonts that I want to use in word. I've tried copying them
to the C:\windows\Font folder and i've 'installed new Font' from Control
Panel - Fonts. Both methods seemed succesful but they don't appear in the
font drop down box in Word. What else do I have to do ?

OS is XP Word is 2003.

Thanks in advance for any help

Word will display all the fonts the current printer driver is capable of
printing.
First step is to set a default printer that can print fonts. Display fonts
are not printer fonts.

Hi Graham,

thanks for your reply.

Your theory certainly ties in however I've tried changing to several
deafault printers with no positive affect.

When I look at the fonts in question they are all dated this year. Could it
be that none of the printers ( i've tried several some less than two years
old ) have a driver that can hadle these fonts ( an example of which is
RotisSerFSBol.ttf )?

Cheers, Paul.

Hi,

Maybe you already know this, but I'll just tell you how I went about
downloading some free fonts from a site.
I selected the font I wanted, then download and Save.
The font was saved to my Downloaded Fonts folder.
I went into this said folder and clicked on the said downloaded font, then
File and 'Extract All' to run the Zipped Folder Extraction Wizard.
Then in Control Panel, Fonts - I selected File and Intall New Font. You
then identify the drive & folder where your unzipped downloaded new font is
and & select it. The font should then appear (hopefully??) in List of Fonts
box. Click on the font in the List of Fonts box & Press OK. The new font
should now appear in your drop down box in Word.

Mark.
