Adding a win 2003 to existing NT4.0 network

I currently have a winnt 4.0 PDC. I want to add a windows
2003 server to my network to replace all file sharing and
NT logons. I have to keep the NT 4.0 server in place and
it cannot be upgraded to 2003 due to a software program
running on it. What is the best way to do this cutover.
It is a small LAN network with about 3o users. Can I
demote the nt 4.0 to be a member server and make the win
2003 the Primary Domain controller. Any help will be
appreciated.
Thanks

Install the new server as an NT4 BDC, and promote it to PDC. Let it
replicate, and then upgrade to Win Server 2003. Be aware that the partition
size limitation of NT4 during setup will restrict your system partition to
7.8GB.

You cannot demote your current PDC to a member server, this requires a
reinstall.

Best regards

Bjorn
