Adding a SATA hard drive

I now have two ATA hard drivers and want to add a SATA drive. Can this be
done or do I have to start over with the SATA a lone?
I have a Intel MB 865peal and it does support SATA and I wrote Intel with
the question but no answer. I'm running a dual boot ME and XP home.
