Adding a remider to a message does NOT trigger the alert later

Hi,

Very often, when i add a reminder to a message i received and i need make a
followup later, i expect that it would popup me a message when the time of
the remider arrives, like it does with other reminders what i set/add
directly to the callendar.

After i add the reminder to a message, when i come back later, and click on
the message, there is a gray header message saying that this message has a
reminder set for "doing xxx, on time x.x"

I'm doing something wrong? Is there some special requirement that this works?

I'm using winXP sp2 + ms office outlook 2003 sp2.

Up to now, i could not get a pattern on why it sometimes (very few) the
reminder works as expected (showing a POPup alerting me when its time), and
most of the times it simply does nothing.

Is the email with the reminder in Inbox? Without 3rd party software it would
only turn red in a folder view if it's in a folder such as Sent Items.

Thanks for your replay,

Answering, sometimes it´s on inbox, but mostly the messages in other
folders.
If it doesn't triger an popup alert message, i can't really understand why
and/or for what it could be usefull having the ability to add a remider in
the future with a follow up flag.
If i understood correctly what you said, i sould add a remider with a
specific color flag to a message, and this message would appear in the
"follow up folder" only at the specified time. but on my test's even if i put
a remider with follow up flag to days or hours in the future, the message
appears imediatly in the follow up folder, and i continue not receiving any
"so much wanted and expected" alert popup to remind me to dedicate some
attention to a specific message.

Any flagged item, with or without a reminder, will appear in that search
folder.

Outlook only fires reminders from Inbox, Calendar, Contacts and Tasks. In
all other folders the reminder items just turn red. That's why I wrote my
reminder addins, lots of requests for reminders from other folders.

Thanks, now i understood what you. And i teste, and if the message was in
the inbox, the popup did appear correctly.
Anyway, to MS, i can´t understand why i can set a reminder on messages in
other folders, but caN'T use them. If they don't work in other folders they
should be disabled when i try to set them.
Thaks for you help, and i'll take a look at your addons.

I don't get reminder even if item (with flag set for reminder) are in Inbox.
What settings I need to do?
