Adding a new hard drive

Help...I have installed an additional 160gb drive to my existing workstation
that already has an 80gb drive as the primary (C). I am in Disk Management
and can't figure out how to set up Disk 1 (160gb) as an extended partition so
that data will just write to this drive when C fills up. All I see is a
create volume and the choice is simple volume.

Thanks,

I'm not sure I'd want to do that and secondly I don't think that you can
extend the boot or system volume.

Normally you would want your data and system drives separate. That way if
the system disk crashes you can either reinstall the OS or remove the other
disk and insert it into another machine. Likewise on the data side you
sometimes do a lot of copying and deleting etc... this can cause
fragmentation on the system side which could lead to disk errors.
