How could I add a file , e.g. a *.txt file ( written in Notepad ) , in
windows startup
in order to receive a message (as a reminder) on the desktop when my computer
boots up ?

thanks in advance , Babis

You can do this by placing a shortcut to the text file in the Startup folder on
your Start menu. Here's how;

Create your text file in Notepad and save it to a handy location such as your My
Documents folder.
Next, right click on the text file and select Send to -> Desktop (create
shortcut) from the menu that drops down.
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer and navigate to this folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Go back to your Desktop
Click and hold down the right mouse button on the shortcut to the text document.
Drag it into this folder.
Release the mouse button and select Move here from the menu.
Restart your computer to see the reminder opens.

Note: If there are multiple user accounts on your computer and you want the
message to only appear when you log on, replace the folder mentioned earlier
with the corresponding one for your account.

C:\Documents and Settings\YOURACCOUNT\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Good luck

Create a shortcut to it in the startup folder under all programs

Place the .txt file in the Startup folder.
