Adding a check mark

I can't find the symbol for a checkmark anyplace. I am
sure there is a way to add one to a regular document but
I can't track it down.
Thanks.
 
Try character 252 in Wingdings or 80 in Wingdings 2. There are also checked
boxes.

Click on "Insert", click on "symbol", go to "Wingding"
and it is character #252.
