added second harddrive

I added a second harddrive, a maxtor 120gig, and it was
recognised when I booted up the machine, and when I turned
off the computer and restarted it disappeared. If I do a
error scan, it lists the harddrive and its partions, but
when I turn off the machine and restart it is gone again.
Is there a setting in properties or something I need to do
to get it to allow me to use this second harddrive.

I saw this once before - hard drive was whooped

Just check to see if the jummpers are set right - also you could unplug your old one - make the new one a maste
use your maxtor disk to see the new drive - if it does formate it. use dos command to see drive
power off - re conect the old one - boot - if all is good - power off - reconnect the new one - boot

check the device manager

You checked the jumpers on the old and new drive?
Try putting the new drive on the secondary IDE cable.
