Add/Remove Programs

While helping a friend repair her HP Pavilion a220n Desktop, by reloading
Windows XP (only this time Professional instead of Home) a familiar black box
appeared in the Add/Remove Programs List Box. You can see the programs
begionning with the letter A, then you have a white space for a couple of
lines down, the for about three-fourths of thge rest of the way down, you
have various box type shading. Then you can see the rest of the installed
programs. So it is hard to tell if anything is missing or added? Anyone come
across a similiar problem? Please advise

or manually check:-
This is generally due to the DisplayIcon having a negative number. From here you
can either remove the negative number: Start/Run/Regedit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{}

I appreciate you trying to help, but this is a Blacked out section inside the Add/Remove Programs window, where all the Programs installed are listed and where you can click on them to change or remove.
