add/remove programs

Hello
I wanted to remove a file from my add/rem file but it says unable to find it
and wont let me remove it , how do you remove it completly. I am told i can't
remove a file by just deleting from where i did and that i have to delete
from add/remove only. This is driving me nuts.
I only deleted it from the icon and all programs file from the start button.
Can i get your expertise help please. Thanks Tony

The best way to uninstall a program is from 'Add or Remove Programs'. If you
start to delete things manually and then try Add or Remove it is likely to
fail.

Fortunately, there is an easy way out: Reinstall the program, reboot, and
now uninstall it from Add or Remove Programs.

Of course, if the 'program' in question is really a virus or spyware none of
the above applies.
