Add / Remove programmes

I have recently tried to remove a programme using the Add/remove in the control panel and find that no matter what I do it will not remove the programme. All it does is to throw me into the install mode again.
The programme in question is Ulead Video studio 6. I even spoke to Ulead Support and they talked through a complicated way of removing it stage by stage.
Is there something I may have done or is this not an uncommon feature???

Any chance the program had an uninstall icon in its start menu group
and that you used that to remove the program before going to
add/remove?

Some uninstall routines do take you to a setup screen. On the setup screen
there should be options such as: repair, change and uninstall. Have seen an
odd routine now and then where you have to "change" the installation --
de-selecting every installed component -- to accomplish an uninstall.
