Add/remove Office 97 will not open

Help,

In the add/remove control panel, I double click 'Change/Remove' 'Microsoft
Office 97, Professional Edition', the hour glass appears for less than a
minute, and nothing happens. Then I cannot close the control panel.

In the control panel an icon of a 'Key' is displayed to the left of the name
'Microsoft Office 97, Professional Edition. Is this normal?

The programs run properly. I just want to add the 'Assistant' to Word.

I inserted the CD, the Setup screen does not open. The CD opens to
folder/file view. I double click on 'setup.exe' and nothing happens. I
tested the CD in another machine and it works normally.

What can I do here. (Please don't say upgrade. It's and old machine.)

You should try to run the "setup.exe" from the CD.

I did that. See just above.

I also copied the CD to a partition on my machine and double clicked the
setup.exe file. I got the hour glass briefly then nothing happened. The CD
works on a different machine.
