add/remove hardware

I bought a laptop with a removable CD Rom drive. Since
it's removable, I have the little green arrow icon on my
taskbar, "add/remove hardware". How can I hide that icon?
Is there a registry setting or something? TIA

Right-click the Start button, Properties and click on Customize next to Hide
inactive icons, find it and click on the Behavior column and select Always
Hide.
