Is there a log kept somewhere on XP Pro for the programs I have
installed or uninstalled at times in the past?

Dont know of any but I have a generaal 'Install' folder that
has shortcuts to what I run like
01-EZ AV
03-EndItAll- Ctr+Alt+Dels
..
..
..
When I want to install X, I just copy this folder & change
its name to 'Install X' . Moving all these 2 1 location and
sorting by data provides history.

This ensures my installs r trouble free too. 05 above saves
Registry(not with Restore tho) which I name 'Install X' too
so that's 2nd history.

Hi Vance,

Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Uninstall

This looks like a list of currently installed apps rather than a list
of all the current & former apps - which is what I want.

I have never heard of a way to keep history of former apps. In fact,
the opposite normally occurs where people report problems with vestages
of un-installed app leaving a trail in the registry, folders, etc.

I would recommmend a manual log that you keep as you add new applications.

If you need an automated log, then you or someone could write a program
that that runs at intervals (or figure out how to run it automatically
when a program is installed or un-installed) that extracts the data in
the Un-install registry key provided by Kelly and keeps a running log of
any new entries. Data in these registry keys are very rich with
potential for storing in a database.

It's highly likely that someone has written such an application which
may or may not be findable via Google. Sounds like something a
security-conscious organisation would like. (to control what risk, I
guess I'm not so sure, though).

I use my crude method posted above 4 3 things:
1-Road Map when I install new OS
2-Keep track of apps I've tried, & I try alot on
experimental clone of XP. Some I keep for only minutes-
StrikeFighter, SendTo Modifier, & PS Elements r recent
examples.

Comments/suggestions/corrections appreciated.
