Add printer wizard -xxx

I have an ongoing issue with a compaq desktop running
WinXP pro. The network printers are no longer displayed
in printers and faxes. I also can't add a printer no
functionality no error message and the Add printer wizard
will not excute. Does anyone have any info on this
behaivor. I've searched MS knowledgebase and article
271248 does not apply.
