Add Placeholder to Title Master?

J

Jean Peterson

I would like to add another placeholder to my Title Master
so that there are three "click here" boxes instead of two.
I can't seem to figure out how to do this and would
appreciate some help.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't think you need more than two. There is no way to add another place holder. You can create a title slide with three placeholders, and just keep reusing that whenever you need.

I'm not understanding, you say there's no way to add one,
but then you say I can create one with three. Perhaps you
mean I can create a title slide with three placeholders
from scratch instead of adding a placeholder to the
standard one? If I can create a new title master with three
placeholders, please tell me how. Just to be clear, I want
the click-able text box placeholders, not just some text
that has to be selected.

Thanks.

What I'm saying is that you cannot add a new place holder. but you can add a new title slide with three place holders, save that as a template. then open a new presentation based on that template and use (copy) the title slide each time you want to use it.

a new title slide with three place holders,

That is, a slide with three pieces of text that contain any old text you
like. Not placeholders in the PowerPoint sense of the word but stand-ins
just the same.

So the upshot is that you can't add "placeholders" period,
not to a slide template like the standard Title slide
template nor to a blank slide. The only placeholders
available in PowerPoint are those provided on the new slide
templates. Correct?

Seems very limiting and I wonder why Microsoft didn't
include the ability to create placeholders. Oh well, I'll
"workaround" as usual.

Thanks.

It *is* limiting. And you're *far* from the first one to wonder at this
limitation, believe me.
Some of us have been scratching our heads over it since ... well, I remember
wondering why Freelance and Persuasion could and PPT couldn't back in '90 or
so. And I'm sure I was far from the first too ...
Thanks.
