add or remove programs problem

My add or remove programs in control panel will not work. When I highlight a
particular program it can not be removed. There is just a computer symbol
next to the program and no area "click to remove"
What happened? How can I fix it?

On Aug 17, 2007 at 9:30am EST I tried to remove MySQL server 5.0 and
tried to remove it by going into Control Panel and highlight the
program but could not find button CHANGE or REMOVE option. Now all my
installed program are not showing the option. My computer has latest
Window XP updates and ran McAfee anti virus program but still having
the same problem. I tried to Restore my computer till August 15, 2007
and still see the same problem. I have administrative privilege and
checked all the security features. Also checked with few IT experts
in my office and they told me that they have not seen this type of
problem before.

I will greatly appreciate any help.
