add-on update ActiveX in IE/XP/SP2

OK, I've wandered through the XP SP2 docs and the
prerelease, and haven't yet found a thread to docs on how
the new IE tools...Manage add-ons...Update ActiveX button
works - where it goes to find out that an update is
available. I tried the obvious - a new version number on
the page from which the control was initially installed -
no go. Any ideas where I should be looking?
