add hardware wizard problem

when I try to open this function, I get message "only one device can be added
at a time. When you have finished, you may add another." I am not adding a
device and would like to.

Open Task Manager and look for
MsiExec.exe
and
InstMsi.exe.

Do you see the "Safely Remove Hardware" popup?

Is something running from the registry key for 'RunOnce"?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\... and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Mark, I am receiving the same message. Do I need to remove the two tasks
you mention below(MSIEXEC.EXE, and INSTMSI.EXE? What else do I need to do?
