Add hardware wizard keeps popping up

I gave an old printer (Epson Stylus photo 780) to a computer newbie friend of
mine. We installed it on him Win XP computer, using the epson setup program.
It fucntions fine, but the add hardware wizard keeps finding it upon each
boot up. Why doesn't Windows see it as installed hardware??? It is connected
via parrallel interface, but it has USB interface as well. Would switching to
USB help the problem?

Yes since bi-directional support does not appear to be enabled in your LPT
interface.

I checked (via phone call) and the bi-directional support is enabled on that
interface. A canon parrallel port printer previously installed without the
problem. Any ideas why the epson is causing this problem?

Yes, use the USB. Because if the Printer is USB compatible, Windows will
always look for it. But, if it's on USB, Windows will see that it's there and
all setup. So, it will shut it's yap. Connect it to USB, and everything will
work very smoothly.
