add chinese character display to view in browser?

Any ideas on how to display chinese characters from sites
with XP? My browser "view" does not list any Chinese
encoding options to select (although it has Japanese,
Hebrew, Korean, etc.). My old computers with 98 and 2000
had this Chinese encoding option. Why doesn't this new
computer with XP? Where can I get it?
