add a printer

windows xp professional edition
epson stylus C82
system recognizes the new hardware device
attempts to install but fails
reporting that RPC server is unavailable....

I have been all over the net to try to correct....

I checked the services setting for RPC, seems fine

I ran all ms update patches to try to fix...

replaced missing spoolss.exe file

ran thru Epson's "fix", reinstalling with updated driver
after uninstalling printer and usb port etc...

nothing works,

I bought this printer because I couldn't get my one year
old Lexmark to operate.

Someone, please help !!!! I'm certain that I'm not the
first to experience this problem.... or am I ?

Click on Start/run
type in cmd and hit ok.
In the command prompt, type in the following and hit
enter.
sfc.exe /purgecache /scannow

This replaces any damaged/missing/altered system files.
