There are still a few benighted souls (I am one of them) who don't have a
168 internet connection. Hence it is necessary for us to check for updates
from time to time.
(If you don't know what a "168 internet connection" is, send me $5 in a
plain, brown wrapper and I'll tell you.)
Point taken. I have a 600K cable connection so I admit, I tend to take it a
bit for granted. Even so, it does not take long to get the update even on a
dial up. It should become second nature to check for an update every time
you run the program, otherwise any new scumware will go unnoticed, so (while
not totally pointless) it makes running the application potentially
redundant.
