AD with an ADSL router

Possibly the wrong newsgroup, but a little advice, please, for a novice.

I am running AD on a Win2K Server, with about 15 XP workstations.

I have recently purchased an ADSL router and connected it via a 24 port
switch to the system, the idea being that some designated machines may share
internet access.

Those machines (about 4) which are allowed access are given fixed IP
addresses and the router's default gateway (10.0.0.50), the others have
automatic DHCP issued from the server. This all works fine, however the
fixed IP (web enabled) machines can't seem to access other machines on the
local LAN without my changing back to auto DHCP temporarily.

I've tried adding the server's default gateway as an alternative, but
although that appears to work in the short term, once the workstation has
been shutdown and restarted I'm back to square one. I can either have
access to the LAN, or the Internet, but not both.

I'm sure there's a simple configuration solution to this, but being a novice
I'd rather not fiddle too much in case I screw the whole thing up.

Anyone any ideas, please?

Chris

Make sure that all workstations and servers specify only the internal
AD-integrated DNS server's IP address as their DNS server. Then configure
the DNS server itself with forwarders to several public DNS servers (your
ISP's).
