what would be the steps needed to setup AD in a couple of
weeks ?
what would we need to do?
our PCs are XP, W2k, and 3 w98 machines.
our network is NW 5.1 - with several W2K servers in stand
alone mode.
we are about to setup Citrix in 3 weeks.
we dont want to use Novell with it.

thanks

You don't mentioned about what You want to do with Novell resources and
what are this resources. I presume that You want to migrate this
resources into AD.

The first step will be design and implementation plan for AD itself,
when You will establish AD domain the next step is to migrate novell
resources. Take look at this docs:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/overview/sfnmig.mspx
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=274279

This can be usefull:
