AD re-dis-ables wite cache repeatedly with UPS!

James W. Long

Dear All:

I am running Windows 2000 Advanced Server Service Pack 4
configured as an Active Directory Domain Controller and
Active Directory DNS server,
with a Conext 900 UPS connected to com1:.

I bought the UPS so I can enable the write
cache on the boot device, but that didn't happen.

Active directory continually re-disables write cacheing every boot up,
even after I manually enable it.

This is standard built in IDE drive, not scsi or raid.
This is a non acpi system if that makes a difference to the problem,
and if it does matter, I need to know please.
The system actually _does incorporate the latest acpi support,
(I checked) however, it was not enabled in bios during the
windows install, so it configured itself as a "standard PC".
Due to this my computer will not shut off by itself,
which is a related problem I am told I can only solve
by reinstalling windows again.
please let me know how this affects my write cache problem.

Here is the error out of the event viewer.

Thank you in advance,
James W. Long
