Ad-Hoc Wireless PCs not talking

P

Peter Z

Hi All,

I am trying to connect two PCs running XP Home in an ad-
hoc wireless connection, and they manage to find each
other ok, but they won't talk. I go to 'my network
places' and the other PC doesn't appear, and yet the
connection icon is there in the task bar. Bytes are
sending, but they aren't being received. Is someone able
to suggest a possible solution to my prob?

Thanks,

Peter Z

Your Host computer should have say 192.168.0.1 IP Add.
and Subnet 2555.255.255.0,after running Network Setup
Wizard (for purpose of installing ICS) and your Client
computer should have TCP/Ip Setting as Automatically
Assigned.

I appreciate your quick response! However, those settings
were already in place, and my problem is still persisting.

Make sure you have set up sharing for the folder or drives
you want to share between the two systems. Also check and
make sure they both have the same SSID and that wireless
encryption is turned off on both systems until you can
access both systems. Check to see if they are both in the
same workgroup just to be sure.

Depending on the company that makes the cards you
purchased, you may need to go to the properties of the
wireless connection and make sure that "Use Windows to
configure wireless network" is unchecked. I know for sure
that D-Link wants customers to use their configuration
software to get things setup correctly. Hope this helps.
