ad-aware

I downloaded ad-aware to get rid of unwanted programs. It
worked on the programs, but it must of deleted something
else because the internet explorer takes forever to open
and load.

When using Ad-Aware, it's a good idea to Quarantine whatever you're going to
delete BEFORE you delete. That way if there are any problems, you can click
the Open Quarantine List link in the main window, and restore what's causing
the problem. I deleted a data miner, and then found that Broderbund Family
Lawyer would not execute without it. Thankfully I had Quarantined it, and
it was easily restored.

Some programs won't work if you delete the spyware they installed. You're
better off getting rid of the program than saving the spyware.

By Default, AdAware automatically quarantines what it removes. If you didn't delete the quarantine file, you can restore the changes. Then be a little more selective about what you tell it to remove.
