activex

I recently installed the microsoft spyware (beta) and had
a lot of activex programs on my computer and now i
checked in the add and remove programs and i didn't see
any more activex on there. Are there supposed to be any
of those activex programs on the computer or not? The
spyware detected some harmful items on the computer and
took care of the problem but now I am left wondering if I
needed any of those activex things?

Are you looking at a list in Microsoft Anti-Spyware? Advanced Tools,
Systems Explorers, Applications, Downloaded ActiveX. Click on Downloaded
ActiveX to view list.

Before the name of each programme is a small icon indicating one of
three categories. Do any in the list have a white X in a red background?
It is those you need to find out more to determine whether to remove
them.

Hope this helps.

Tons of spyware is installed via Internet Explorer as ActiveX applications.
This is one reason why I like Firefox - it doesn't have native ActiveX
support.
In short, most of those "ActiveX things" were probably the spyware that MSAS
removed. Don't worry about them....
