Can't run Windows Update. Says current settings for
internet security are prohibiting ActiveX controls from
running on this page. I've went into Internet settings
and have changed all security settings 1st to DEFAULT
(that didn't help) so then to LOW and under advanced,
have defaulted that. This is suppose to allow Windows
Update to run but it isn't. Any ideas???

Manually edit security to allow ActiveX instead of selelcting predetermined
settings. You're modifying the Internet zone.

This is a friends XP Home PC. She uses a dialup
connection. Brought it to my house & put on cable modem.
I can now at least browse the web but Windows Update
still aborts with ActiveX error. I am downloading latest
XP Service Pack 1a. Will install that & see what
happends. Her Symantec/Norton AV is getting errors while
running LiveUpdate, so not certain about it's status yet.
I'm afraid it's infected...thx for your effort.
