Ron Hubbard

lately I've been getting the troublesome error message about a
page "provides potentially unsafe information to an Active X
control" and that my security settings don't allow running
controls like that.

Huh?

I keep my settings at Internet level and usually have no problems.
I don't know why those messages keep appearing, but does anyone
know of a way to get rid of them?

Ron

Nothing seems to work and these messages just keep popping up
almost every time I switch from one web page to another. I think
this happened because/after I installed QuickTime, a program that
invariably f**ks my installation of IE6. Sigh...

Annette, I got tired of the constant messages and decided to
reinstall IE6. That fixed the Active X problem but now I have
another, less irritating problem. I just don't think IE6 is as
stable as it used to be.

I got the complete download version from an archived source so
that it doesn't require an Internet connection each time it needs
upgrading, I haven't tried it yet, but I think it may possibly be
a more stable version, but I dunno. That's at:

http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit/6.0

Anyway, while doing a reinstallation is a tiresome chore, it's the
only way to fix problems caused by other rogue programs.

This problem is happening to me too and my IT guy can't seem to
fix it. He installed new software for creating CD labels - ever
since then I've been getting the same thing. Have you resolved it
yet? It IS frustrating isn't it?
