ActiveX problem

T

TK

I have a dialog box that pops up while trying to run
windows update. The following appears: "Your current
security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on
this page. As a result the page may not display
correctly."

We have tried to "enable" ActiveX related settings in the
IE security settings and we have also tried to set all IE
security settings to LOW, but the message dialog still
appears.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi TK,

First make certain you log in as an Administrator or with an account that has
administrator privileges. Then, since you have already tried the first resolution
found at the Windows Update Troubleshooter Web Site for the topic titled: "Why do I
get a message saying an ActiveX control on this page is not safe?", try the second:

Add the following domain names to the Trusted Sites Zone:

http://Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://V4.Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://Download.Windowsupdate.com

For information about how "To assign a Web site to a security zone", search Internet
Explorer Help for the words in double-quotes.

And if that does not solve the problem, I suggest that you post in the forum
specifically created for problems with the Windows Update Site:

microsoft.public.windowsupdate

For more information on the newsgroup, click on the "Get help and support" link
on the Windows Update site, and then the "tips and solutions for users like
yourself."
