ActiveSync stays minimized

I've been using ActiveSync 4.x for some time and, apart from a few minor
problems, I have used it to sync three devices to my PC.

For some reason AS has started to work in minimized mode and does not even
give me the option of restoring (maximizing) the window. I don't remember
changing any settings that could have caused this to happen.

OS XPproSP2
AS 4.x (can't open it to find the generation :-( )

Just looked at the minimized icon on the toolbar and found that by clicking
on it the "right click" menue toggles between giving me the option to restore
or minimize AS. No AS window actually opens.
My screen resolotion is set to the maximum and I wondered if the AS window
is being opened off the displayed screen - in which case, how do I get it
back?
I've also tried to open AS through a desktop shortcut set to open in a
window rather than minimized.

Right-click the taskbar, click Cascade windows, or Tile windows.
I've also tried to open AS through a desktop shortcut set to open in a
window rather than minimized.

Thanks for the info Joe. Unfortunately - still no joy.

Cascading the windows didn't bring the AS window back and switching off Zone
Alarm didn't work either.
I've just re-installed AS4.2 and that had no affect. It looks like some sort
of simple registry problem but I don't know where to start looking.

Still no joy with this problem, although I have found out that AS works OK
when I log on under different accounts.
This is causing major problems now because I can't us AS to browse my phne
or PDA files.

Please, does anyone have any pointers?

Problem solved thanks to Raj at the Microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync
newsgroup.

"Hi,

Seems the co-ordinates of the ActiveSync window is not within your screen
resolution. You could change to a higher screen resolution and check if you
can find the window. Or else, you will need to access the registry under
the following location

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services

and change the value under "WCESMGR Windowplacement", you can try setting it
to

0,1,-1,-1,-1,-1,0,0,0,0

And click Ok to save the value. Double click the ActiveSync icon again and
the window should appear for you (as long as ActiveSync window is not in
maximized or minimized state) to be able to drag and position where you
would prefer it. If it doesn't appear. Close the WCESMgr.exe process using
the Windows Task manager (press Ctrl+Alt +Del, processes tab) and double
click the icon again.

I used the registry edit and it worked first time.
