I just got a new dell laptop running wicows xp
professional. I cannot access any downloads (ie. mcafee
or for that matter any dommercial site) - I keep getting
incorrect activex settings messages - which I fix as
directed - still no luck. I can't even access MS
support - blocked by activex . same w/windows updates.

Do you have any security software, firewalls, antivirus, popup blocker, ad,
blocker, etc. installed on your system. If yes, it's likely the an issue
with one of those applications blocking access. You will have to turn them
off one at a time and try to access, when you find the one that is causing
the problem you will have to adjust settings in the application to allow you
to have access.
