Active X

How does one know when to give Active X permission to run? I don't know how
it happened but after installing FireFox I get a message on each site asking
if I want Active X to run. I have read both "yes" and "no" on whether to
allow it.

Well, his question was clearly about ActiveX which is a Microsoft thing.
Of course, not just an XP thing but his choice of browser is secondary to
his question. Naturally, the answer is, if you say no then anything that
requires ActiveX won't run, what that means is that some of the content on
that website won't be available. Only the user can determine if that makes
a big difference to them and it may be on a site-by-site basis. Running
ActiveX components is default for IE and not for FF, but really, his
question is browser independent. Some people choose not to run the
components because of a perceived possible security risk, others feel
they need the functionality. I can't answer yes or no for the poster, it
depends.
