active ie window stays in background

Howard Volinsky

When I have several windows open, ie and/or other
programs, I have a problem with at least one of the ie
windows. If I click on the window icon from the task bar,
it does seem to become the active window, but stays in the
background behind whichever windows were previously
active. To get to the desired window I have to minimize
everything else. Can that be fixed? Do I have to re-
install internet explorer?

First rule out malware by working through the solutions (CWShredder,
Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

Additional information at:
The Parasite Fight http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm

If not caused by malware, consider disabling (for diagnostic purposes)
legitimate programs running in the background which might be interacting
with IE- security, antivirus, ad-blockers, toolbars & other add-ons, etc.
You may have to uninstall then reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.

If unsuccessful with those steps, post back- someone may have another idea.

Hope this helps,
Don
