Active Drectory Installation Failed

Steven

I have a computer_A running windows 2000 advance
server/sp4 in workgroup "ABC". There is another windows
2000 advance server/sp4--computer_B with active directory
on domain "Adomain.com". I can join the computer_A to
domain "Adomain.com" sucessfully. Now I want to promo
computer_A as an additional domain controller for the
existing domain "Adomain.com". I ran dcpromo and followed
the wizard step by step. After the summary screen, at the
configure Active directory screen. there is window popup
said Active Directory Installation Failed. The operation
failed because: Managing the network session with
\\computer_B.Adomain.com failed. "An internal error
occurred"

Please help me resolve this issue. Thanks in advance.

Make sure the computer you are trying top promote is pointed to the DDNS
server that the AD is updating in. If thats not the problem, make sure the
srv records were created with the AD installation in DNS. Run DCdiag and
netdiag, that may give you some other clues.
