Hi,

I am having windows 2000 advanced server running active
directory. After taking back of active directory, if I
format the harddisk, will I be able to restore active
directory and users will be able to login without any
problem?

If the backup and restore procedure is followed correctly then in theory you
should have no problems. Do you only have one domain controller? If so,
consider installing a second DC instead which would allow you to rebuild the
hard drive without the potential minefield of an authoritative restore.
