Hello again!

I noticed that whenever I make a change to a user (Let's say I mispell a
name or someone changes thier last name by getting married) then the display
name when you pull up Active Directory Users and Computers always stays the
old name, but if you double click on that user and pull up the property
pages on that user, thier name is correct. What's the deal? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi
This is because a user object consists of a number of "naming" properties like cn, Display name, First name, Last name and so on
If you want to change a user name you have to decide witch properties you will change
When you create a new user trough active directory users and computers it will automaticlly create the display name for you but if you change a naming property like Lastname on an existing user it will not update the Display name property
This is how it works

How did you change the name?
If you right click the user in AD Users & Computers and select 'Rename', you
should get a dialogue box with all the user's name attributes; First Name,
Last Naem, Full Name, Display Name, Logon Name and pre-Windows 2000 logon
name.

If I right click on the user and select RENAME, it just creates a box around
thier username and I can just change it there. So no dialogue box appears.
If I go to the properties page for teh user, everything seems to be set
right. And yet the display name in the snap in for the users is still the
old, incorrect name. Any thoughts?
