active directory security problem

[Help!!]

One DC, small network.
PLease help, got a problem where every AD mmc (such as
users and computers, and sites and services) (also dns ,
dhcp dodgy)try to go into get following error "naming
information cannot be located because: network path not
found."
We have had some viruses and i think the security files
are corrupted or missing, i have tried everything i can
think of, with no joy.
search msoft db and cannot find same problem, although
several similar ones.
tried : system state restore, secedit. to restore security
defaults.
was thinking of doing a windows repair, but not sure that
would be a good idea.
any suggestions welcome?
