Active Directory Replication

B

Bramha

Hi all,

I am having a strange type of network setup which for some
reason I can't redesign now.

My main concern here is how to do replication between DC'S?
I have a DC at HQ under woolworths.com (DC1.wools.com) and
another DC at disaster recovery site called woolsdr.com
(DRDC.woolsdr.com). My predessor used to rebuilt the dr dc
in a period of three months for updating the active
directory, somehow which I am not clear. If possible, how
to do this? After joing the domain and replicating the
active directory how to change the domain name back to
XX.woolsdr.com from XX.wools.com without disturbing the
replicated data.

Thanks

You can not replicate domain information between two different
domains. The exception of course would be the Schema and
Configuration information between a parent and child domain.

If you want to do disaster recovery, you should build an identical
domain using System State backups. These could be done on a regular
basis and restored to the Disaster Recovery domain (which will be the
same name) as an Authoritative Restore.

Unless this is a 2003 domain, you can't rename a DC or the domain.
