Active Directory Replication Oddity

Ken Stager

Greetings,

This week I started seeing the following in the Directory Service
Event Log of one of my Win2k DC.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: NTDS Replication
Event Category: Replication
Event ID: 1107
Date: 6/10/2004
Time: 7:17:15 PM
User: Everyone
Computer: DC1
Description:
The internal directory replication agent (DRA) Dispatcher thread is
unable to continue. Restart the directory.

AND seeing this as well:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: NTDS KCC
Event Category: Knowledge Consistency Checker
Event ID: 1272
Date: 6/9/2004
Time: 10:28:43 PM
User: N/A
Computer: DC1
Description:
No nTDSConnection object exists for inbound replication from server
CN=NTDS Settings,CN=DC1,CN=Servers,CN=MySite,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=MyWork,DC=com
at address DC1.MyWork.com. The partition
CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=MyWork,DC=com is no longer replicated
from it.

*I* made no changes to AD or our Domain layout. My Manager removed
some old/defunct AD objects the day this started, but from the
information he has supplied, he followed the proper steps when
removing the OU and its child objects. The KB at MS has been of
little help, and Event-ID.net has no listings that cover this. Any
ideas?

Ken,

Exactly what objects did your manager delete? What method did he use to
remove said objects?

Go into Active Directory Sites and Services MMC and go into Sites and then
Sitename and the Servers and check under each listed server if there is an
NTDS Settings entry for each.

This is a start.

Cary
